Vallejo Model Air — US Intermediate Blue
Subject: Aircraft
US Navy Intermediate Blue (ANA 608; approx. FS 35164) — mid-tone of the USN tri-color camouflage scheme, approx. 1943–1945. Applied to: F6F-3/F6F-5 Hellcat, F4U-1A/1D Corsair, SB2C Helldiver, TBF/TBM Avenger, SBD-5/6 Dauntless (late), PB4Y Privateer. Positioned between Sea Blue upper surfaces and White undersides. Used in major Pacific operations including Solomon Islands (1943), Philippine Sea (1944), Leyte Gulf (1944), Iwo Jima (1945), Okinawa (1945).
Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
