The Takom 2150 1/35 Flakpanzer V Kugelblitz is a highly detailed plastic model kit of the rare German WWII “Kugelblitz” (Ball Lightning) self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle. Designed as an advanced replacement for earlier Flakpanzer systems such as the Wirbelwind and Ostwind, the Kugelblitz featured a fully enclosed, rotating armored turret mounting twin 30mm MK 103 autocannons, intended to provide better crew protection and improved anti-aircraft capability during late-war operations.
Historically, the real Kugelblitz was developed on the Panzer IV chassis and only a handful of prototypes were completed before the end of WWII. Takom’s version represents a “what-if” production concept mounted on the Panther (Pz.Kpfw. V) chassis, combining historical engineering with an alternate late-war development scenario. This makes it especially popular among advanced modelers who enjoy prototype and paper-panzer subjects.
Takom’s kit is known for its sharp molding, complex engineering, and highly detailed turret design. It typically includes finely textured armor surfaces, a detailed Panther-based hull, link-and-length tracks, photo-etched parts, and a fully detailed rotating turret assembly, making it both a challenging and visually impressive build.
