The Toyota Soarer launched in February 1981 as Toyota's first personal luxury coupe, defined by its long-nose, short-deck two-door hardtop styling and inline-six power. The 2000VR-Turbo grade, added in June 1981, used a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-six rated at 145 hp, pairing high-speed performance with a comfortable, technology-forward interior. This is the original 1981 motorized release, distinct from the later static reissue.
