The Karmann-Ghia (Type 14) was produced from 1955 to 1974 as a stylish two-door coupe built on the Volkswagen Beetle platform, with bodywork designed by Ghia of Turin and coachbuilt by Karmann in Osnabrück. It shared the Beetle's air-cooled flat-four engine and torsion-bar suspension, prioritising aesthetics over performance — a formula that found a loyal market in North America throughout its production run.
