Description
TAM24012 - Tamiya 1/24 Martini Porsche 936-78 Turbo - WWHP111541
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Porsche 936/78 was Porsche's Group 6 sports-prototype developed for the 1978 Le Mans 24 Hours, powered by a turbocharged flat-six. Despite turbo problems sidelining the #5 car, Jacky Ickx mounted a memorable overnight charge in the #6 entry to bring it from fourth to second overall — narrowly failing to catch the leading Renault-Alpine A443 in one of Le Mans' most celebrated drives. "New parts" rebox of the original 1978 Tamiya 936 tooling (24004), issued in 1979 with updated parts for the 1978-specification car.
Note: Curbside kit — no plastic engine. The body and chassis are designed around a motorized drivetrain; the engine bay is occupied by motor mounts. Group 6 sports-prototype, not a circuit racing or rally subject.
