D51-149 - Strombecker 1/12 GO KART Electric Powered WWHP112875
Preowned, Resealed, Mint Parts off sprue
The go-kart was invented in Los Angeles in 1956 by Art Ingels, and by the late 1950s the sport had exploded in popularity across North America. The Go Kart 400 — powered by a Clinton A400 single-cylinder engine — was one of the first karts ever to go into production, entering the market in 1957. Strombecker released this plastic model of the Go Kart 400 around 1960–1961, capitalising on the kart craze at its peak. The kit was notable for including a small working electric motor, making it a functional display piece rather than a purely static model. It originally retailed for $1.49.
