Description
SPESH72074 - Special Hobby 1/72 Avro Anson Mk.I Late RAF Version - PREOWNED10117065
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Avro Anson entered RAF service in 1936 as the service's first monoplane with retractable undercarriage, initially serving as a coastal reconnaissance aircraft with Coastal Command. By 1939 it was obsolescent in the front-line patrol role but proved exceptionally well suited to crew training, going on to become the RAF's primary multi-engine bomber trainer for the duration of the war. Despite its unhurried performance, Ansons occasionally found themselves in combat: No. 500 Squadron's N9732 MK-V, flown by Pilot Officer Peters, famously shot down two Bf 109s during a single engagement over Detling in June 1940.
