The Type VIIC/41 was an improved variant of Germany's most numerous submarine design, distinguished by reinforced pressure hull construction allowing a maximum operating depth of approximately 250 metres. Launched from mid-1943 onward, the 91 boats of this type entered service as the Battle of the Atlantic had already shifted in the Allies' favour, facing heavily escorted convoys and persistent air cover. To improve their survivability on the surface, the C/41 boats were fitted with an enlarged bridge structure -- the "Grosser Wintergarten" -- armed with twin 20mm Flak and a 37mm M42U automatic cannon, all reproduced in this kit.

Released in 2010 with new parts relative to the base Revell Type VIIC tooling, including engraved wooden deck planking and the "Atlantic" bow configuration.
