Description
HOBHC1585 - Hobbycraft 1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk. XIV - WWWEB10116220
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Spitfire Mk.XIV was the most powerful and capable of the wartime Spitfire variants, powered by the Rolls-Royce Griffon 65 engine with a five-bladed propeller and delivering a top speed of around 445mph. Entering service in early 1944, the Mk.XIV quickly proved itself against the V-1 flying bomb threat — its speed advantage allowed pilots to intercept and destroy the fast-flying missiles — and it went on to serve as a superb air superiority fighter over Europe in the final year of the war, seeing action with both RAF and RCAF squadrons.
