The Churchill Mk.I was the initial production variant of Britain's primary heavy infantry tank of the Second World War, entering service in 1941 with the distinctive combination of a 2-pounder gun in the turret and a 3-inch howitzer in the hull front. Although mechanically troublesome in early service, the Churchill's exceptional armour and trench-crossing ability made it a valuable asset in the close-support role, first seeing action at Dieppe in August 1942. Hasegawa's 1/72 MT series kit was among the first injection-moulded representations of the Churchill Mk.I in this scale.
