Description
FRGF258 - Frog 1/72 Swordfish Mk.1 Torpedo Plane - WWWEB10114294
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Fairey Swordfish was a carrier-borne torpedo bomber and reconnaissance biplane that remained in front-line Fleet Air Arm service throughout the Second World War, outlasting every aircraft intended to replace it. Its open-cockpit, fabric-covered biplane design appeared obsolete by 1939, yet the Swordfish achieved some of the war's most consequential air attacks — crippling the Italian fleet at Taranto in November 1940 and fatally damaging the rudder of the battleship Bismarck in May 1941. It continued in anti-submarine service until the war's end. Frog first tooled this kit in 1973; moulded in black plastic, it builds into a well-proportioned representation of the type. Box art by Ken Rush.
Box Contents:
