ESC4011 - Esci 1/48 L.T.V. F-8E Crusader - PREOWNED118666
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Vought F-8 Crusader was the last American fighter designed around guns as its primary armament, and the four 20 mm cannon plus a variable incidence wing that pivoted for carrier work gave it a character all its own. The F-8E was the definitive gun-armed version, and it earned the nickname MiG Master flying MiGCAP off Yankee Station with squadrons like VF-162 aboard USS Oriskany. A navalised export version, the F-8E(FN), went to the French AƩronavale with blown flaps and Matra missiles and soldiered on well past the type's retirement from American service.
In the box:
- Light grey styrene sprues with fine raised panel lines and recessed control surface outlines
- Clear sprue for the canopy and HUD glass
- Cockpit tub with seat and console detail, instrument panel supplied as decals
- Detailed main and nose undercarriage with wheel bays
- Ordnance for all three options: fuselage rail AIM-9 Sidewinders and Matra R.530 air-to-air missiles for the French machine
