Violin-bodied hollow electric basses became one of the defining shapes of 1960s pop, light enough to sling all night and unmistakable from the back of any hall. Japanese manufacturers turned out a whole run of 1/8 scale instrument kits during that boom, and Les Industries Paramount of Montreal boxed them for the Canadian market under the Music Series banner with bilingual instructions. This one pairs the bass with its own combo amplifier, and the parts come pre-coloured so it builds up as a display piece without paint.

In the box:

• Pre-coloured plastic parts moulded in wood tone, so painting is optional rather than required
• Two-piece hollow body with moulded f-holes, separate neck with fretted fingerboard and headstock
• Chrome-plated sprue for tuners, pickups, bridge, tailpiece and control plate
• Separate combo amplifier with speaker grille, control panel and carry handle
• Length of vinyl tubing containing seven fine strings for stringing the finished model
• Bilingual English and French instruction sheet with assembly diagrams and stringing guide
