The CR.32 is best known as the "Chirri" of the Spanish Civil War — one of the nimblest biplane fighters of the 1930s, well-matched against the Soviet Polikarpov I-15 in a conflict that served as a proving ground for a generation of pilots and tactics. Italian and Spanish nationalist aces made their reputations in it. By WWII it was obsolete, but in its era it was genuinely formidable.

Classic Airframes' 1998 1/48 kit is a short-run multimedia release — plastic sprues with a cast resin cockpit and photoetch fret, with Propagteam waterslide decals. The resin cockpit is nicely detailed for the scale. Worth noting that the Propagteam decals on this release are very thin and can be tricky to handle — take care when applying. A rewarding build for an experienced modeller, covering one of the most characterful and historically significant biplanes of the interwar period.
