The M41 Walker Bulldog was a post-war American light tank developed to replace the M24 Chaffee, entering production in 1951 and named in honour of General Walton Walker, killed in Korea. It served with the US Army until the early 1960s before being replaced by the M551 Sheridan, but saw extensive export service with some two dozen nations including South Vietnam's ARVN, where it saw combat action through the Vietnam War. The M41A1 and A2 designations reflect progressive improvements to the fire control and ammunition stowage systems.
