The Fairlane Victoria was Ford's pillarless hardtop for 1956, and it carried the year's restyled grille, the wide chrome sweep along the flank and the two tone paint that made the car a showroom favourite. Nineteen fifty six was also Ford's Lifeguard safety year, with the deep dish steering wheel and optional seat belts, and the Y block V8 grew to 312 cubic inches in Thunderbird spec. The Victoria's low roof and wraparound glass have kept it a staple of the custom and cruise night scene ever since.
