The Royal Aircraft Factory BE2c was designed to be stable above all else, an aeroplane that would fly itself straight and level so its crew could concentrate on observing and photographing the ground below. That was exactly the right idea in 1914 and exactly the wrong one by 1916, when German scouts arrived and the BE2c's placid handling made it nearly defenceless, a reputation that followed it for the rest of the war. It served on regardless, in France, over the Middle East and at home as a night fighter against Zeppelins, where its steadiness was an asset again. Airfix's tooling captures the wire braced, open cockpit look of the type in 1/72.
