AIR591 - Airfix 1/72 Invader - WWHP112501
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Douglas A-26 Invader entered service with the USAAF in 1944 as a fast, heavily armed twin-engine light bomber and ground attack aircraft. It flew combat in both the European and Pacific theatres in WWII and went on to serve in Korea — redesignated B-26 from 1948 — and later in Southeast Asia, remaining in frontline use longer than almost any other WWII-era American combat aircraft. The A-26B variant carried up to eight forward-firing .50-calibre machine guns in a solid nose, making it one of the most heavily armed ground attack aircraft of the war. This Airfix tooling, first released in 1969, covers both the solid-nose A-26B and the glazed-nose A-26C bombardier variant.
