Description
AIR483 - Airfix 1/72 Douglas Dakota - WWHP111600
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Douglas C-47 Skytrain — known as the Dakota in British and Commonwealth service — was the most widely used Allied transport aircraft of the Second World War, serving in every theatre from supply drops to paratrooper operations. On D-Day alone, over 800 C-47s dropped paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions over Normandy. Post-war the type entered commercial service with airlines worldwide, including Silver City Airways whose cross-Channel car ferry operation became one of the most distinctive civil aviation ventures of the 1950s. Airfix first tooled this kit in 1960; kit #483 is among the earliest boxings and is notable for offering both a wartime military and a civil marking option — an unusual choice for the era.
Box Contents:
- Injection-moulded plastic sprues, moulded in dark grey
- Clear sprue (cockpit and cabin windows)
- Paratrooper figures
- Airline steward figure
