The Chance Vought F4U Corsair was built around the largest propeller and one of the most powerful engines of its day, its inverted gull wing giving the ground clearance that shape demanded. VF-17, the Jolly Rogers, flew the Corsair from Ondonga and Bougainville in late 1943 and early 1944, running up over 150 victories in a few months of hard fighting over the Solomons and making the skull and crossbones one of the best known unit markings of the war. This Special Edition boxing offers parts for the F4U-1A, F4U-1C and F4U-1D.
