Subject: Aircraft
British Standard Camouflage Colour BSC 49 Purple Brown (approx. FS 30109 / FS 30099 range) — disruptive camouflage tone used primarily on British Army vehicles, approx. 1942–1945. Applied as part of multi-tone desert and European schemes. Applied to: Churchill Mk.III–VII, Cromwell, Comet, Valentine Mk.IX–XI, Sherman II/III/V (British service), Stuart III/V (Honey), Universal Carrier, Humber Armoured Car, Daimler Armoured Car, Sexton SPG. Used in North Africa (late campaign 1942–43), Italy (1943–45), and Northwest Europe (1944–45) as part of evolving British camouflage doctrine.
Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
