Vallejo Model Air — UK Portland Stone

Subject: Aircraft

British Portland Stone (approx. BS 381C:64 / FS 30266 range) — early desert camouflage base color, approx. 1940–1942. Often paired with Silver Grey or Slate. Applied to: Matilda II, Cruiser Mk.I–IV, early Crusader Mk.I, Valentine Mk.I–II, Rolls-Royce Armoured Car, Morris CS9, Universal Carrier, early desert soft-skin vehicles. Used in early North African Campaign (Operation Compass 1940–41), early Western Desert fighting before transition to Light Stone schemes.

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
