German Rotbraun RAL 8017 — two roles. (1) Wehrmacht armour camouflage component 1943–1945: applied over Dunkelgelb base on Tiger I/II, Panther, StuG IV, Nashorn — the brown component of the three-colour scheme. (2) Luftwaffe tropical/Mediterranean aircraft: Bf 109E-4/N Trop (North Africa), Bf 110D/E (Mittelmeer), He 111H-6 (Cyrenaica-based aircraft) as part of the brown/green mottled tropical scheme 1941–1942.

Complete this scheme with:

Dark Yellow — Dunkelgelb RAL 7028 base coat
Panzer Olive — Olivgrün RAL 6003 second camo colour
German Camo Pale Brown — Rotbraun highlight
German Camo Orange Ochre — Rotbraun scale lightening

Weathering & modulation: Highlight raised edges with VLJ70826 German Camo Pale Brown. Rotbraun fades to a warm sandy brown under prolonged sun.

Scale colour note: Lighten Rotbraun 10% with VLJ70821 at 1:35. At 1:72 lighten 15–20%.

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
