Luftwaffe RLM 81 Braunviolett — late-war upper surface 1944–1945. Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8/F-8/G-8, Bf 109G-6/G-14/K-4, Me 262A-1a, Heinkel He 219A-7 Uhu. The primary upper surface colour for the Luftwaffe’s late-war three-tone scheme alongside RLM 82 and RLM 76. Essential for any 1944–1945 Luftwaffe subject.

Weathering & modulation: Apply heavy exhaust staining with thinned VLJ70980. Highlight with VLJ70826 mixed into base.

Scale colour note: Lighten 15% at 1:48, 20% at 1:72.

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
