Vallejo Model Air — UK Light Stone #61

Subject: Aircraft

British Standard Light Stone No.61 (approx. BS 381C:361 / FS 30257) — primary British desert base color, approx. 1940–1943. Often paired with Dark Brown, Slate, or Light Mud depending on period. Applied to: Crusader Mk.I/II/III, Matilda II, Valentine Mk.I–V, Grant I/II, early Sherman II/III (British service), Daimler and Humber armoured cars, Universal Carrier, Bedford QL trucks. Used extensively in North African Campaign (Operation Compass 1940–41, Gazala 1942, El Alamein 1942), and early Tunisia fighting (1942).

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
