Vallejo Model Air — US Sand

Subject: Armour

US Sand (approx. FS 33448 / FS 33531 range) — general-purpose light sand tone for desert and arid environments, approx. WWII limited use, widely adopted post-1980s. Applied to: M1 Abrams, M2/M3 Bradley, M113 APC, Stryker series, HMMWV; aircraft including A-10 Thunderbolt II (desert ops), F-16C (desert deployments), AH-64 Apache, UH-60 Black Hawk. Earlier analogues used on US vehicles in North Africa (Sherman, Halftracks). Used in Gulf War (1991), Iraq War, Afghanistan War, and desert training environments.

Coalition Armour — General sand

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
