Vallejo Model Air — Sand

Subject: Armour

Generic sand tone (approx. FS 30257 / FS 33448 range) — widely used across multiple nations for desert camouflage, approx. 1930s–present. Applied to: German Afrika Korps vehicles (Panzer III/IV, Sd.Kfz. 251 — overpainted on Panzer Grey), British Crusader, Matilda II, Valentine, Grant, Sherman (Commonwealth service), Italian M13/40, Semovente series; modern vehicles including M1 Abrams, Challenger 2, Leopard 2 (desert schemes), and HMMWV. Used in North Africa (1940–43), Middle East conflicts, Gulf War, Iraq/Afghanistan operations.

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
