Vallejo Model Air — UK P.R.U. Blue

Subject: Aircraft

RAF Photo Reconnaissance Unit Blue (approx. FS 35164 / FS 35042 range depending on fade) — specialized high-altitude, low-visibility blue, approx. 1940–1945. Designed to blend with atmospheric haze. Applied to: Supermarine Spitfire PR Mk.IV, PR Mk.VII, PR Mk.XI, PR Mk.XIX; de Havilland Mosquito PR Mk.IV, PR Mk.VIII, PR Mk.XVI, PR Mk.34; some late-war high-altitude Hurricanes and experimental reconnaissance platforms. Used across all theaters including Battle of Britain recon (1940), pre-D-Day intelligence (1943–44), and deep reconnaissance over Germany (1940–45).

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
