Vallejo Model Air — Hull Red

Ship hull red / primer red — anti-fouling coating applied below the waterline on all navies. IJN Yamato, Musashi (1/350 waterline builds), USS Iowa BB-61 class, HMS Hood, KMS Bismarck. Also used as a primer coat on armour models — the red-brown undercoat visible in chipped areas on any weathered AFV.

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
