Vallejo Model Air — Dark Earth

Subject: Aircraft

Generalized Dark Earth tone (RAF/Allied equivalent) — used across British and Commonwealth forces and adapted by other nations, approx. 1938–mid-1940s. Similar to BS Dark Earth but used in mixed or export camouflage standards. Applied to: RAF Spitfire Mk.I–V, Hurricane Mk.I/II, Kittyhawk Mk.I–III (P-40 variants), Tomahawk Mk.II, Mustang Mk.I/II, Beaufighter, Mosquito; USAAF aircraft in RAF-style camo: P-40B/C/E Warhawk, A-20 Havoc, B-25 Mitchell (early deliveries), C-47 Dakota (RAF service). Ground vehicles include: Sherman M4/M4A1 (British service in North Africa), Grant I/II, Crusader III, Valentine V–IX. Used in North African Campaign (1940–1943), Burma Campaign (1942–1945), Mediterranean Theatre.

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
