Background information
The BMW Isetta, affectionately known as the "Knutschkugel", revolutionized the German automobile market in 1955. As the first mass-produced economy car, it helped many people to motorized mobility. Originally developed by the Italian company Iso, the small car was licensed and further developed by BMW. With its characteristic front entrance, economical single-cylinder engine and low price, the Isetta quickly became a symbol of the German economic miracle. Between 1955 and 1962, over 160,000 units were produced, which have now become coveted collector's items.
