A light, neutral warm grey tone — RAF Barley Grey BS381C/626, the upper surface colour for RAF air defence interceptors from the late 1970s, the overall colour of the RAF Eurofighter Typhoon fleet, and the lower surface colour applied to Royal Navy Sea Harriers of 809 NAS en route to the Falklands War in 1982. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC973 is included in AK's Cold War & Modern RAF Aircraft Colors set, Modern Royal Air Force Aircraft Colors set, and RN Fleet Air Arm Aircraft Colors 1945–2006 set.

RC973 RAF Barley Grey BS381C/626 was adopted as the upper surface colour for RAF interceptors in the Light Aircraft Grey/Barley Grey air defence scheme from the late 1970s, pairing with Light Aircraft Grey (RC972) on the lower surfaces. It subsequently became the overall colour for the RAF Eurofighter Typhoon fleet. It is therefore correct for RAF interceptor upper surface colour late 1970s–2000s (Tornado F.3)/withdrawal (Phantom FGR.2); RAF Typhoon overall colour; and RN FAA 809 NAS Sea Harrier lower wing and horizontal tail surfaces during the Falklands War 1982, repainted en route to the South Atlantic in the Medium Sea Grey / Barley Grey scheme.
