Description
AKIRC971 - AK Interactive Real Colors RAF PRU Blue BS381C/636 17 ml.
A distinctive, deeply saturated blue-grey tone — RAF PRU Blue BS381C/636, the iconic overall colour of RAF photo-reconnaissance and meteorological aircraft from 1941 to 1951, and the lower surface colour for high-flying day fighters and overseas-based RAF fighters through the 1950s. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC971 is included in AK's Cold War & Modern RAF Aircraft Colors set alongside the key postwar RAF colour range.
RC971 RAF PRU Blue BS381C/636 was the standard overall colour for RAF high-flying photo-reconnaissance and meteorological aircraft from 1941 until 1951, covering the Spitfire PR variants, de Havilland Mosquito PR, and associated PRU types in their distinctive all-blue finish. It was also the lower surface colour for RAF high-flying day fighters from 1943 until 1945, and continued postwar as the lower surface colour for RAF overseas-based fighters in the 1950s and for RAF photo-reconnaissance aircraft in the 1950s–1960s. It is therefore correct for RAF PRU aircraft overall colour 1941–1951; RAF high-flying day fighter lower surface colour 1943–1945; RAF overseas-based fighter lower surface colour 1950s; and RAF photo-reconnaissance aircraft lower surface colour 1950s–1960s.

- RAF high-flying day fighter lower surface colour 1943–1945: high-altitude Spitfire Mk.VII/VIII/XI variants
- RAF overseas-based fighter lower surface colour 1950s; RAF photo-reconnaissance aircraft lower surface 1950s–1960s: Canberra PR, Swift FR, Hunter FR
