Description
AKIRC962 - AK Interactive Real Colors RAF Ocean Grey 17 ml.
A medium, neutral grey tone — RAF Ocean Grey, one of the two upper surface colours in the RAF Day Fighter Scheme adopted by Fighter Command in August 1941, replacing Dark Earth on fighters and remaining in use through 1947. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC962 is included in AK's WWII RAF Aircraft Colors set and WWII RAF Day Fighter Scheme set alongside RC960 Dark Green, RC963 Medium Sea Grey, and RC964 Sky.
RC962 RAF Ocean Grey was introduced as one of the two standard upper surface colours in the Day Fighter Scheme adopted in August 1941, pairing with Dark Green (RC960) in a disruptive two-tone upper surface pattern. The scheme remained in use until 1947, in practice into the late 1940s, and was also applied to Mosquito bomber variants. It is therefore correct for RAF Day Fighter Scheme upper surface colour August 1941–1947 on the Spitfire (Mk.V onward), Typhoon, Tempest, Mustang, Thunderbolt, and other Fighter Command types; and for Mosquito bomber variant upper surface colour in the same scheme.
