A very dark, near-black green tone — IJN D1 Deep Green Black, the standard upper surface camouflage colour for Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft introduced in 1943, applied as the dark element of the late-war IJN two-tone upper surface scheme. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC954 is included in AK's WWII IJN Aircraft Colors set with colours researched for accuracy by the author of the "Aviation of Japan" blog.

RC954 IJN D1 Deep Green Black was introduced in 1943 as the standard upper surface camouflage colour for IJN aircraft, replacing the earlier overall grey schemes as the war moved into its middle and late phases. It is therefore correct for IJN upper surface camouflage colour from 1943 through 1945 on the A6M Zero (late production), J1N Gekko, J2M Raiden, N1K-J Shiden, D4Y Suisei, B6N Tenzan, G4M (late production), and the full range of IJN carrier-based and land-based aircraft of the period in the D1/D2 upper surface scheme.
