A dark, slightly warm olive-green tone — RLM 81 in its dark green formula variant, the new standard upper surface colour introduced for Luftwaffe aircraft in the summer of 1944, and the colour historically — and incorrectly — identified as "RLM 83" in older modelling references. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC949 is included in AK's WWII Luftwaffe Late War Colors set alongside RC950 RLM 81 Version 3 and RC951 RLM 82 for the complete late-war upper surface scheme.

RC949 RLM 81 Ver.2 is the dark green tone of a colour that existed in three officially approved paint formulas, each intended to be used depending on the available component supply of a particular paint manufacturer — meaning the same RLM 81 designation applied to varying shades in actual production. This version's dark green character led earlier researchers to erroneously categorise it as a separate colour called "RLM 83," a designation now understood to be incorrect. It is therefore correct for Luftwaffe late-war upper surface camouflage from summer 1944 to end of WWII — dark green RLM 81 formula on the Fw 190 D-9, Bf 109 G-10/K-4, He 162A, Me 262A, Ta 152H, Ar 234B/C, and other types manufactured or repainted under the late-war 81/82/76 scheme.
