Description

AKIRC939 - AK Interactive Real Colors RLM 70 17 ml.

A very dark, near-black green tone — RLM 70 Schwarzgrün, the darker of the two-tone upper surface camouflage colours used across Luftwaffe fighters, heavy fighters, bombers, and multi-engine aircraft throughout the war, and the standard colour for Luftwaffe propeller blades from 1939 to 1945. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC939 is included in AK's WWII Luftwaffe Early War Colors set and WWII Luftwaffe Mid-War Colors set.

RC939 RLM 70 was the standard upper surface camouflage colour for Luftwaffe fighters from 1937 until the end of 1939, for Bf 110 heavy fighters from 1938 until spring 1940, and for bomber, ground-attack, reconnaissance, and transport aircraft from approximately 1938 until late 1944 — the longest-running upper surface camouflage role in Luftwaffe WWII history. It was also the standard colour for propeller blades from approximately 1939 until the end of the war. It is therefore correct for Luftwaffe fighter upper surface colour 1937–end of 1939 on the Bf 109B/C/D/E and He 51; Bf 110 upper surface colour 1938–spring 1940; Luftwaffe bomber, attack, recon, and transport upper surface colour ~1938–late 1944 including the He 111, Do 17/217, Ju 88, Ju 87, Fw 200, Ju 52, He 177, and associated types; and Luftwaffe propeller blade standard colour ~1939–end of WWII on virtually all aircraft types.

  • Luftwaffe fighter upper surface colour 1937–end of 1939: Bf 109B/C/D/E, He 51
