Description

AKIRC938 - AK Interactive Real Colors RLM 66 (1941) 17 ml.

A very dark, near-black grey-green tone — RLM 66 as recorded in the November 1941 edition of the Luftwaffe colour regulations (L.Dv. 521/1), the 1941 Farbtontafel variant of the definitive Luftwaffe cockpit and interior colour. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC938 is included in AK's WWII Luftwaffe Cockpit & Interior Colors set and WWII Luftwaffe Late War Colors set alongside RC937, allowing precise differentiation between the two documented colour chart variants.

RC938 RLM 66 (1941) represents the colour variant from the November 1941 Farbtontafel revision. It was used for painting Luftwaffe aircraft cockpits and crew compartments from approximately mid-1941, and from summer 1944 officially became the standard colour for all Luftwaffe aircraft interior surfaces. The 1941 variant is particularly relevant for mid- and late-war production aircraft and for the late-war colour sets where AK specifically specifies the 1941 edition. It is therefore correct for Luftwaffe cockpit and crew compartment colour from ~mid-1941 to end of WWII across all German aircraft types produced or repainted from this period — and as the standard colour for all Luftwaffe interior surfaces from summer 1944, including on late-war types such as the Fw 190 D-9, Bf 109 K-4, Ta 152, He 162, Me 262, and associated production aircraft.

  • Luftwaffe cockpit and crew compartment colour from ~mid-1941 — applicable across all German aircraft types of the period
  • Standard colour for all Luftwaffe aircraft interior surfaces from summer 1944, replacing RLM 02
  • Late-war production aircraft interiors: Fw 190 D-9, Bf 109 K-4, Ta 152H, He 162A, Me 262A
  • Lacquer-based, airbrush-optimized — smooth, opaque coverage
  • Compatible with AK RC701 / RC702 High Compatibility Thinner, Tamiya Lacquer Thinner, Mr. Color Thinner, and Mr. Color Leveling Thinner
  • New 17ml plastic dropper bottle — 70% more volume than the original 10ml glass bottle
  • Part of the 180-colour AK Interactive Real Colors lacquer range
