Description

AKIRC937 - AK Interactive Real Colors RLM 66 (1938) 17 ml.

A very dark, near-black grey-green tone — RLM 66 as recorded in the 1938 edition of the Luftwaffe colour regulations (L.Dv. 521/1), the standard Luftwaffe cockpit and crew compartment colour from mid-war onward and the definitive interior standard from summer 1944. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC937 is included in AK's WWII Luftwaffe Cockpit & Interior Colors set alongside the 1941 variant RC938.

RC937 RLM 66 (1938) represents the colour variant from the original 1938 Farbtontafel. According to official regulations it became the standard Luftwaffe cockpit and crew compartment colour from approximately mid-1941, though in practice it was already in use from around mid-1940, and was specified for Do 17 E and F crew compartments as early as 1937. From summer 1944 it officially superseded RLM 02 as the standard colour for all Luftwaffe aircraft interior surfaces. It is therefore correct for Luftwaffe cockpit and crew compartment colour from ~mid-1941 to end of WWII across virtually all German aircraft types produced or repainted from this period, and as the standard colour for all Luftwaffe interior surfaces from summer 1944; also applicable to selected earlier aircraft types including the Do 17 E/F crew compartments from 1937.

  • Luftwaffe cockpit and crew compartment standard colour from ~mid-1941 (in practice from ~mid-1940) — applicable across all German aircraft types of the period
  • Standard colour for all Luftwaffe aircraft interior surfaces from summer 1944, replacing RLM 02
  • Early application: specified for Do 17 E/F crew compartments from 1937
  • Lacquer-based, airbrush-optimized — smooth, opaque coverage
  • Compatible with AK RC701 / RC702 High Compatibility Thinner, Tamiya Lacquer Thinner, Mr. Color Thinner, and Mr. Color Leveling Thinner
  • New 17ml plastic dropper bottle — 70% more volume than the original 10ml glass bottle
  • Part of the 180-colour AK Interactive Real Colors lacquer range
