Description

AKIRC932 - AK Interactive Real Colors RLM 02 RLM-GRAU (1938) 17 ml.

A warm, slightly olive-inflected grey tone — the RLM 02 RLM-Grau colour as recorded in the 1938 edition of the Luftwaffe colour regulations (L.Dv. 521/1), with three distinct roles across the history of German aviation in World War II: cockpit and interior finish, early overall camouflage, and upper surface camouflage on fighters. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC932 is included in AK's WWII Luftwaffe Early War Colors set and WWII Luftwaffe Cockpit & Interior Colors set.

RC932 RLM 02 RLM-Grau (1938) represents the colour variant from the original 1938 Farbtontafel. It was the standard interior finish for Luftwaffe aircraft from around 1935 until the end of WWII (officially superseded for interiors by RLM 66 in summer 1944), the overall colour for Luftwaffe combat aircraft in 1935–36 and for trainers through the mid-war period, and an upper surface camouflage colour on fighters and heavy fighters from late 1939 until approximately mid-1941, after which its camouflage role was reduced to mottling. It is therefore correct for Luftwaffe cockpit and interior surfaces throughout WWII across virtually all German aircraft types; Luftwaffe combat aircraft overall colour 1935–36 including the Bf 109B/C/D and He 51; Luftwaffe trainers overall colour through mid-war; and upper surface camouflage on Luftwaffe fighters and heavy fighters late 1939–mid-1941 including the Bf 109E/F, Bf 110C/D/E, and Do 17Z/He 111 variants in upper surface schemes of the period.

  • Luftwaffe cockpit and interior surfaces throughout WWII — applicable to virtually all German aircraft types (officially replaced for interiors by RLM 66 in summer 1944)
  • Luftwaffe combat aircraft overall colour 1935–36: Bf 109B/C/D, He 51 and contemporaries
  • Luftwaffe trainers — overall colour through mid-war period
  • Luftwaffe fighter/heavy fighter upper surface camouflage late 1939–mid-1941: Bf 109E/F, Bf 110C/D/E; mottling colour on fighters mid-1941 onward
  • Lacquer-based, airbrush-optimized — smooth, opaque coverage
  • Compatible with AK RC701 / RC702 High Compatibility Thinner, Tamiya Lacquer Thinner, Mr. Color Thinner, and Mr. Color Leveling Thinner
  • New 17ml plastic dropper bottle — 70% more volume than the original 10ml glass bottle
  • Part of the 180-colour AK Interactive Real Colors lacquer range
