Description

AKIRC925 - AK Interactive Real Colors Dark Sea Blue 17 ml.

An extremely dark, near-black blue-green tone — the Dark Sea Blue overall colour applied to US Navy and Marine Corps aircraft from 1944 until 1955, representing the final and most distinctive chapter of WWII and early Cold War USN aviation camouflage. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC925 is included in AK's WWII US Navy & USMC Aircraft Colors set and WWII US Navy & USMC Aircraft Late War Colors set.

RC925 Dark Sea Blue was introduced as the overall scheme for USN carrier-based fighters in mid-March 1944, replacing the three-colour Sea Blue/Intermediate Blue/Insignia White scheme. The order was extended to all other carrier-based aircraft types in June 1944 (effectively October 1944), and subsequently to patrol aircraft, transport and utility seaplanes, and helicopters in January 1947. The overall Dark Sea Blue scheme remained in force until 1955. It is therefore correct for USN and USMC overall Dark Sea Blue scheme March 1944–1955 including the F4U-1D/4 Corsair, F6F-5 Hellcat, F8F-1/2 Bearcat, F7F-3 Tigercat, TBM-3 Avenger, SB2C-4/5 Helldiver, AD-1/2 Skyraider, F9F-2/5 Panther, F2H Banshee, AJ-1 Savage, PB4Y-2 Privateer, PBM Mariner, and associated early jet and piston types in USN/USMC service through 1955.
