A very light, near-white grey tone corresponding to Federal Standard 36495 — the lower surface colour in the earliest US Navy and USMC Tactical Paint Schemes of the 1980s, and the continuing standard for US Navy helicopter lower surfaces from the 1980s to today. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC921 also appears in USN and USAF aggressor training paint schemes.

RC921 Light Grey FS 36495 was the lower surface colour used in the early iterations of the Tactical Paint Scheme applied to some US Navy and USMC aircraft in the 1980s — including A-4 Skyhawks, early F/A-18A/B Hornets, and specific F-4 Phantom II squadrons including VMF-312, VF-103, and later VF-171. It remains the lower surface standard for US Navy helicopter Tactical Paint Schemes from the 1980s to the present. It is therefore correct for early USN/USMC Tactical Paint Scheme lower surface 1980s on the A-4M/F Skyhawk, early F/A-18A/B Hornet, and F-4S/N Phantom II in service with VMF-312, VF-103, and VF-171; USN helicopter Tactical Paint Scheme lower surface 1980s–present including the SH-60B/F Seahawk, HH-60H Rescue Hawk, MH-60R/S, and associated naval helicopter types; and USN and USAF aggressor training schemes on the F/A-18B Hornet and F-16C Fighting Falcon.
