A medium-dark, neutral grey tone corresponding to Federal Standard 36231 — one of the most enduring colours in US military aviation, having served as the standard cockpit colour for USAF and US Navy aircraft since 1953 and appearing in several camouflage schemes across five decades. RC916 Dark Gull Grey FS 36231 has been the standard interior colour for cockpits and crew compartments of USAF and US Navy aircraft since 1953, a role it continues to hold today. It also appears as one of the Tactical Paint Scheme colours on the USMC AV-8B Harrier II from the 1990s until 2014, in the experimental Ferris camouflage scheme evaluated by the US Navy in 1976, and in USAF aggressor training schemes.
