Description
AKIRC912 - AK Interactive Real Colors Grey FS 36081 17 ml.
A medium, neutral dark grey tone corresponding to Federal Standard 36081 — a colour with a broad span of US naval aviation and USAF applications across six decades. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC912 is included in AK's US Air Force & ANG Aircraft Colors 1960s–1980s set and US Air Force European I Camo Colors 1980s set, and covers subjects from Cold War-era USN patrol aircraft through to current-service USN helicopters.
RC912 Grey FS 36081 is one of the colours in the Euro One camouflage scheme applied to USAF Tactical Air Command aircraft in the 1980s and into the 1990s for the A-10. It is also the base colour of US Navy patrol and ASW/AEW aircraft from 1955 to 1971 (with Insignia White fuselage top surfaces added from 1958), the overall colour of USN carrier-based helicopters from 1957 through to the 1980s, and the continuing overall colour of USN MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopters from the 1980s to today. It is therefore correct for USAF Euro One scheme 1980s–1990s on the A-10A Thunderbolt II, F-4E/G Phantom II, F-16A/C Fighting Falcon, and A-7D Corsair II; USN patrol and ASW/AEW aircraft 1955–1971 including the P-2 Neptune, P-3A/B Orion, S-2 Tracker, E-1B Tracer, and E-2A Hawkeye in overall grey with Insignia White fuselage tops from 1958; USN carrier-based helicopters overall colour 1957–1980s including the HUP Retriever, H-34 Seahorse, SH-3A/D Sea King (to 1971), and UH-46 Sea Knight; and USN MH-53E Sea Dragon overall colour from the 1980s to present.
