Description
AKIRC893 - AK Interactive Real Colors Earth Red FS 30117 17 ml.
A warm, reddish-brown corresponding to Earth Red No.8 (FS 30117) — a colour appearing across three distinct US military applications: as a WWII Army Corps of Engineers vehicle camouflage tone, as a disruptive colour in the MERDC Red Desert scheme applied to US Army AFVs in the 1970s and early 1980s, and as a tone used in ad-hoc desert camouflage schemes on US military aircraft and helicopters during the 1990–91 Gulf War. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC893 is the companion to RC892 Earth Brown and RC981 Earth Yellow in AK's WWII US Army & USMC Camouflage Colors Set.
RC893 Earth Red FS 30117 is one of the colours used for painting US Army vehicles in the Red Desert variant of the MERDC camouflage scheme. It is also one of the colours possibly used in the ad-hoc desert schemes applied to some USMC helicopters during the 1990–91 Gulf War, and was used in some desert schemes of US Navy aggressor squadrons on the F-5E, F/A-18A, and F/A-18B. It is also a fair match to one of the colours available for painting disruptive camouflage on US Army vehicles during World War II. It is therefore correct for WWII US Army vehicle disruptive camouflage as No.8 Earth Red alongside Olive Drab, Earth Brown, and Earth Yellow; MERDC Red Desert scheme US Army AFVs of the mid-1970s through to 1984 covering vehicles such as the M60, M113, M577, M35, and M151; and Gulf War-era ad-hoc desert camouflage subjects including USMC helicopters and US Navy aggressor F-5E and F/A-18 aircraft.
