Description
AKIRC892 - AK Interactive Real Colors Earth Brown FS 30099 17 ml.
A dark, warm brown corresponding to Earth Brown No.5 (FS 30099) — a colour with three distinct military applications spanning from the Second World War to the early 1980s: a WWII US Army Corps of Engineers vehicle camouflage colour, a tone within the MERDC multi-colour camouflage system used on US Army AFVs in the 1970s and early 1980s, and the overall colour of Israeli Air Force helicopters in the late 1970s. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC892 is included in AK's WWII US Army & USMC Camouflage Colors Set.
No.5 Earth Brown (FS 30099) was one of the twelve camouflage colours specified by the US Army Corps of Engineers during WWII, used as a disruptive tone on US Army vehicles alongside Olive Drab, Earth Red, and Earth Yellow. The MERDC camouflage system, developed in the 1970s, used a palette of twelve colours including multiple browns and sands applied in terrain-specific four-colour patterns to all US Army tactical vehicles until replaced by the NATO three-colour scheme in 1984. RC892 is also the overall colour of IAF (Israeli Air Force) helicopters from the late 1970s until the early 1980s — dropped after the Lebanon War — covering the AH-1 Cobra, CH-53, MD 500, Bell 206, and Bell 212. It is therefore correct for WWII US Army disruptive camouflage on vehicles across all theatres, MERDC-scheme US Army AFVs of the 1970s–early 1980s including the M60, M48, M113, M577, and associated vehicles in arid and semi-arid schemes, and IAF helicopter subjects from approximately 1977 to 1982.
