No.5 Earth Brown (FS 30099) was one of the twelve camouflage colours specified by the US Army Corps of Engineers during WWII, used as a disruptive tone on US Army vehicles alongside Olive Drab, Earth Red, and Earth Yellow. The MERDC camouflage system, developed in the 1970s, used a palette of twelve colours including multiple browns and sands applied in terrain-specific four-colour patterns to all US Army tactical vehicles until replaced by the NATO three-colour scheme in 1984. RC892 is also the overall colour of IAF (Israeli Air Force) helicopters from the late 1970s until the early 1980s — dropped after the Lebanon War — covering the AH-1 Cobra, CH-53, MD 500, Bell 206, and Bell 212.
