A light grey with a subtle sea-green undertone corresponding to FS 16473 Aircraft Gray — so closely associated with the US Air Force Air Defense Command that it is universally known as ADC Grey. The standard overall colour for all USAF and Air National Guard interceptor aircraft from the mid-1950s through to the early 1980s, it is one of the most distinctive colour schemes in Cold War aviation. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC890 is the essential colour for all USAF continental air defence subjects.

All production F-102 and F-106 interceptors were delivered in FS 16473 after their introduction to USAF service in 1956 and 1959 respectively. F-101s and F-104s in ADC service appeared in natural metal until the early 1960s when they began transitioning to FS 16473. EC-121 Warning Star airborne early warning aircraft used by ADC/ADCOM for offshore radar surveillance also received this scheme. The ADC scheme became the standard scheme for all tactical-sized USAF aircraft that did not have other camouflage schemes specified. ADCOM ceased to operate interceptor units in October 1979 and was disbanded on 31 March 1980. FS 16473 ADC Grey was used overall on USAF and ANG aircraft including the C-141, F-101, F-106, F-4, F-5, KC-135, and T-33. It is the correct overall colour for the Convair F-102A/TF-102A Delta Dagger, Convair F-106A/B Delta Dart, McDonnell F-101B/F Voodoo, Lockheed F-104A Starfire, Northrop F-89 Scorpion, Lockheed F-94C Starfire, McDonnell F-4C/D Phantom II (early TAC/ADC), Lockheed C-141 Starlifter, Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, Lockheed T-33, and EC-121 Warning Star in ADC/ADCOM service from the 1950s through to 1980.
