A darker, greener olive corresponding to the post-WWII Soviet standard vehicle colour XB-518 (Zashchitniy Zeleno — Protective Green) — the standard paint used on Soviet and Warsaw Pact military vehicles from the mid-1950s through to the 1980s and beyond. Distinctly greener and slightly darker than WWII-era 4BO (RC876), it is the essential colour for Cold War Soviet and Russian AFV modelling. XB-518 Zashchitniy Zeleno was the standard basic colour used by the Soviet Union from 1956 through to the 1980s, remaining common well beyond that period. Many armies of Soviet satellite and client states also adopted it. In the 1960s, the Soviet Army gradually transitioned from using 4BO as the mainstream vehicle colour to XB-518 (also referred to as HB-518), which is perceptibly greener than 4BO. It is the correct base colour for all Soviet and Warsaw Pact AFV subjects from the late 1950s onward, including the T-54, T-55, T-62, T-64, T-72, T-80, BMP-1, BMP-2, BTR-60, BTR-70, BTR-80, MT-LB, ZSU-23-4 Shilka, 2S1 Gvozdika, SA-6 Gainful, and all associated Soviet and Warsaw Pact wheeled and soft-skin transport. It covers Cold War confrontation subjects from GSFG (Group of Soviet Forces Germany) through Korea, Middle East conflicts (Six Day War, Yom Kippur War), the Soviet-Afghan War, and the First Chechen War.
