Description
AKIRC876 - AK Interactive Real Colors Russian Green Protective 4BO 17 ml.
A dark, flat olive green corresponding to 4BO Protective Green (Защитный, Zashchitny) — the standard colour of Soviet military vehicles throughout the Second World War and one of the most important AFV colours in scale modelling. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC876 is the essential colour for virtually the entire range of Soviet WWII armour and vehicles.
Green 4BO was developed in 1937 and entered mass production in 1940, becoming the standard colour of Soviet military vehicles throughout the war. Dark Brown 6K and Sand 7K were introduced as disruptive camouflage colours around 1939, but their use was quite limited — most vehicles and equipment remained overall green. 4BO became the standard Soviet Green used throughout the war, with the 1941 printed standard formulated from 40–60% yellow ochre, 15–20% zinc chromate, 10% ultramarine, and 10–20% white. Due to wartime economic limitations, until 1943 the majority of Soviet equipment continued to be finished in 4BO alone; only in 1944–45 did three-colour camouflage become more common. It is the correct colour for the full span of Soviet WWII AFV subjects including the T-26, BT-5, BT-7, T-34/76 (all variants), T-34/85, KV-1, KV-1S, KV-2, IS-2, IS-3, SU-76, SU-85, SU-100, SU-122, SU-152, ISU-122, ISU-152, T-60, T-70, BA-64, and all associated soft-skin transport and artillery tractors from 1940 to 1945.
