Description
AKIRC875 - AK Interactive Real Colors S.C.C. No.15 Olive Drab 17 ml.
A dark olive green corresponding to SCC No.15 Olive Drab (BS.987C Amendment 1, shade 15) — the final standard colour for British and Commonwealth military vehicles introduced in April 1944, used through to the end of the Second World War and into the postwar period. Noticeably greener than US Olive Drab, it is the correct colour for all British and Commonwealth subjects from D-Day onward. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC875 is essential for any British vehicle subject from 1944 to 1945.
In April 1944 (ACI 533), the British Army was able to return to using green paint with the introduction of SCC 15 Olive Drab (BS.987C Amendment 1 shade 15), replacing the earlier brown-based schemes. SCC 15 was a noticeably greener shade than the US No.9 Olive Drab — once aware of this difference, the more yellow tone of US Olive Drab on Lend-Lease vehicles is easily distinguished from the greener SCC 15 applied to British-made vehicles. SCC 15 Olive Drab continued in use from its April 1944 introduction until the end of the war, also being used by Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, and other Commonwealth armies during the same period. It is the correct base colour for all British and Commonwealth AFV subjects from D-Day (June 1944) through to VE Day, covering the Cromwell, Comet, Churchill VII, Sherman Firefly, Achilles, Archer, Sexton, Centaur, Universal Carrier, Buffalo LVT, and all associated wheeled and soft-skin transport of the NW Europe, Italian, and Pacific campaigns.
